Profession and vocation: Life and professional path of A. P. Boltunov

Abstract

This article examines the main stages of the scientific biography of A. P. Boltunov, an outstanding Russian psychologist and educator. It describes the role of Boltunov’s works in the development of educational psychology, moral and character education, forensic psychology, occupational psychology, career guidance, and psychological assessment. The author considers in detail Boltunov’s work on the design and implementation of psychological assessment methods, as well as his development of the principles of the labor school and career guidance. Special attention is paid to Boltunov’s scientific and pedagogical work in the system of higher pedagogical education, including at Herzen University.
