Andrey Sergeevich Chistovich and Herzen University

Abstract

This article examines the scientific career and scholarly legacy of Professor Andrei Sergeevich Chistovich, Doctor of Medical Sciences, an outstanding and responsible researcher, and a practicing psychiatrist. Particular attention is given to his period at the Herzen Institute (now Herzen University), when he developed and published works on neuropsychiatric disorders among blind children, the mental characteristics of juvenile offenders, and sex education for children and adolescents. His teaching activities were summarized in his published lectures for defectologists on child psychopathology, which remain relevant today.
